Adam Cheyer is an inventor, entrepreneur, and engineering executive who explores how computers can augment individual and collective intelligence. He is currently co-founder and VP Engineering of Viv Labs, whose goal is to simplify the world by providing an intelligent interface to everything. Previously, Adam was co-founder and VP Engineering of Siri, a virtual personal assistant for your phone. Ask Siri to accomplish complex tasks for you and she would dynamically weave together data and transactional services from more than forty partners to do your bidding. As a startup, Siri won the Innovative Web Technologies award at SXSW, and was chosen a Top Ten Emerging Technology by MIT’s Technology Review. After Apple purchased Siri in 2010 to power the iPhone’s voice interface, Siri was presented “Best Technical Achievement” at the 2011 Crunchies Awards. Adam is also a founding member and first developer of Change.org. Using Change.org, an international community of 80 million members fights for what’s right locally, nationally, and globally. Hundreds of “victories” have been brought about by shining a spotlight on issues relating to the environment, human rights, food, education, poverty, and justice. Adam also co-founded Sentient (formerly Genetic Finance), which distributes machine learning algorithms across a massive number of CPUs to discover novel solutions to complex problems. Previously, Adam was VP Engineering at Verticalnet (enterprise software) and Dejima (mobile software). As a researcher in Artificial Intelligence at SRI International, Adam authored more than 60 publications and 15 patents. He was Chief Architect of CALO, the largest AI project in US history. Adam graduated with highest honors from Brandeis University and received the “Outstanding Masters Student” award from UCLA’s School of Engineering.
