YMCA of Greater Toronto

The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity tackling the most critical social health issues in the GTA. For more than 160 years, we have offered children, teens, young adults and families the opportunity for personal growth, community involvement, and leadership. Along with the support of donors and community partners, we rely on the generous support of more than 6,000 volunteers along with over 4,000 full- and part-time employees to deliver diverse and inclusive programs that build healthy communities. The YMCA works to improve the well-being of individuals by focusing on the social, economic, environmental, and cultural factors that affect their long-term health and by promoting and supporting current health and well-being. Through child care services, education and training programs, employment and immigrant services, family and youth services and health and fitness programs, the YMCA is building healthy communities across the GTA. The YMCA of Greater Toronto believes everyone in our community should have access to programs and services to help them realize their potential and get and stay healthy – physically, socially and mentally – regardless of their financial situation. Almost 500,000 people use the programs and services the YMCA offers in the GTA annually, with 51% receiving financial assistance and a quarter of the GTA’s low-income populations accessing YMCA programs and services. To make a real difference in the health of our communities, the YMCA of Greater Toronto is also building 10 new YMCAs in the neighbourhoods that need us the most. With the population of the GTA expected to grow by more than 1 million people in the next 10 years, the YMCA is investing to provide even more individuals with supportive YMCA programs and services.
