The Williams College Law Society was founded on Sunday, January 2, 2011 by Dan Zhao'14 and Emanuel McMiller'14. Their goal was to create an organization that brought students interested in law together, and provided a support system for them in terms of providing an avenue to express their interest in law and involve themselves in related activities. The Society seeks to promote a familiarity and understanding of the law and the legal profession among students. Members will have an opportunity to learn about the field of law and the career options it provides and understand the legal framework in which the world operates. The purpose of the Law Society is: to bring together Williams students who have a common interest in law; to provide them assistance and an avenue to express their concerns, goals, and interests in the pursuit of a career or education in the legal field; to provide a link for members to various pre-law and legal resources on and off campus; to promote the understanding of the legal profession, the rule of law, the legal process, and the justice system; to identify and resolve the bias and contemporary problems in our legal system; and to provide programs and activities dealing with or related to the field of law.
