Information
In 1969, Vainer Marchesini had the idea of developing the Screw Conveyor, a hitherto custom-built product made by subcontracted workshops, into a standardized mass-produced item. This philosophy has remained unchanged over the years and has been applied to all products added to the range. Its base near Modena with its flourishing industry afforded an important advantage. Production began on the principle of decentralized manufacturing - successfully practised in the Modena area for many years by sports and racing car builders. The start was made by offering a specially designed Cement Screw Feeder to concrete batching plant manufacturers. Unlike all other screw conveyor manufacturers, the new Company developed its own mechanical components including gear motors. The new technology was soon applied to other industries and modified according to their requirements. After the asphalt industry came cement, lime and plaster works, Screw Conveyors for dehydrated sludge, for animal feed and flour mills, Screw Feeders for the chemical, the food and the glass industry to name but a few. In 1978, the former handicraft business turned into the private joint-stock company WAM S.p.A. Meanwhile, Butterfly Valves, Slide Valves and Dust Collectors had been added to the product range. The successful philosophy of mass-production led the management to open new manufacturing units maintaining the principle of decentralization, making each new factory an independent company. Since 1984, in the same way as the production units, foreign subsidiaries have been established in various countries all over the world. In those countries where no own subsidiary takes care of the clients, a close international dealer network guarantees professional advice, smooth order management and a 'round the clock' spares service. Today WAMGROUP stands for slimlined services and maximum synergy among the Group's manufacturing members and its global distribution network.
