United for Global Mental Health

The world faces an unprecedented mental health crisis. Depression and anxiety affect over 265 million people and poor mental health costs the global economy $2.5 trillion each year. Yet, on average countries spend only 2% of their total health budget on mental health. And up to half of all people with mental health conditions in high-income countries and over three-quarters in low and middle-income countries receive no treatment whatsoever. Launched at the UN in 2018, United for Global Mental Health was established to support and unite the global effort for mental health. We are a convener and facilitator, whose mission is to create a world where everyone, everywhere has someone to turn to when their mental health needs support. We specialise in advocacy, financing and campaigning. We exist to amplify the voices of people, especially young campaigners with lived experience, and work together with partners to accelerate political and financial support for mental health at the national and global level. We power the Speak Your Mind campaign, a nationally-led, globally-united campaign active in 19 countries, that calls on governments around the world to invest, empower and educate for mental health for all. We also facilitate the BluePrint Group, a network of 700+ members with a professional interest in mental health that work to create greater impact through joint advocacy and communications.
