Description
Information
The Wisconsin State Cartographer's Office (SCO) is a unit within the Department of Geography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With an educational outreach and public service mission, the SCO gathers, maintains and disseminates information about mapping trends and geospatial data in the state. In this clearinghouse role, the office maintains specific online catalogs (aerial photography, geodetic control, PLSS) as well as maintaining the Wisconsin GIS Inventory and WISCLINC Clearinghouse applications. Additionally, working closely with the state's Geographic Information Officer, the office plays a key role in GIS coordination across the state through participation in task forces, committees, and affiliated organizations like the Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA) and the Wisconsin Geographic Information Coordination Council (WIGICC.)
