Communication and information are vital to a thriving democracy -- they bring people together with the power to bridge gaps created by distance, culture, politics, and experience.Our undergraduate programs in communication, journalism and media studies, and information technology and informatics provide students with the strong knowledge base necessary to prime them for careers in industry, government, and academia.Our master’s programs in communication and media, and library and information science introduce students to theory and practice in fields where the application of communication and information resources lead to success.The Ph.D. program in Communication, Information and Library Studies provides doctoral training in theoretical and research skills for scholarly and professional leadership in the fields of communication, library and information science, and journalism and media studies. Our Professional Development Studies program leads the field in continuous education and outreach for information professionals.We are the only school in the prestigious Association of American Universities to offer communication and information disciplines under one umbrella.Our program in school library media is ranked #1 by U.S. News and World Report.
