Quattor Petrochemical Co.

The name Quattor, inspired in alchemy, refers to the four elements of nature, water, earth, fire and air, a perfect translation of what this petrochemical company represents: the combination of natural elements with the human being to form a new and successful company. Quattor, which has UNIPAR as a stockholder, with 60 percent of the voting capital, and Petrobras, with 40 percent, combines 4 production sites and ten industrial plants- including basic, ntermediate petrochemicals and resins - located in the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Bahia. Quattor shall reach R$ 9 billion in sales per year, already in 2009. These numbers place the company among the 20 largest companies in Brazil. With around 1,700 employees, Quattor is a great generator of direct and indirect jobs in the region where it operates, also providing tax collection around R$ 2 billion/year. The new company is driving a 2 billion investment program aimed at the production capacity increase of basic petrochemicals, polyethylene, and polypropylene, which is being concluded by Dec/08. Quattor has also competitive advantages as a result of its location: it is close to the largest internal consumer market – the Southeast region – as well as natural gas sources (Campos, Espírito Santo, and Santos basins), and naphtha from the refineries of the region.
