Provincia Autonoma di Trento

The Autonomous Statute dates back to 1948 and gives to the Provincia more primary governance functions, integrated in the last 30 years. The organs of government are: - Consiglio provinciale - provincial council (legislative power); - Giunta provinciale - provincial commission (executive power); - Presidente della Giunta provinciale - president of provincial commission (representative). The administration of the Provincia Autonoma di Trento is divided in Agencies, Departments, Services and Offices. The Agencies have a particular self-government compared to the Departments that are structures with a role based on link between technical-administrative units and the competent Alderman. The Services are the technical-administrative structures that deal with the management of provincial functions. The Services are divided into Offices or Unità Organizzative. Legislative activities on the territory, landscape and environmental management sector started in the 60's with the following laws: in 1964 land planning law, in 1967 the land development plan law (revised in 1987). Then followed: in 1971 the law for the landscape conservation, in 1978 the law for the restore of the storic towns, in 1982 the general forest plan, in 1987 the law for the protection of the environment from pollution, in 1986 the water reclamation plan, in 1991 the law for the natural parks and reserves, in 1993 the disposal of waste plan. In August 1988 the law on the Environment Impact Assessment passed within the three years expected by the Community Directive of the 1985. The law and its regulation came into force in February 1990.
