Postgraduate Medical Council Of Victoria Inc. (PMCV)

PMCV is the lead organisation in Victoria that supports State and National initiatives in relation to junior medical officer (JMO) education and training. PMCV supports the development of a high quality junior medical workforce by providing a range of educational and professional programs and services that support effective training outcomes, and promote safe patient care. The Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria Inc. (PMCV) was established, with similar bodies in other states and territories, with responsibility for coordinating, planning, resourcing and accrediting the training of medical interns and postgraduate year two doctors (PGY2s) Examples of challenges within the prevocational environment that PMCV is currently addressing include: * An increasing number of national and Victorian graduates, with further intern growth to 2018; * An increasingly national approach to intern placement; * The introduction, from 2014, of a national registration standard for internship and national framework for intern accreditation; * Changing health service demand for International Medical Graduates (IMGs); * Increased difficulty, due to the larger medical cohort, of JMOs progressing through the training system.
