In 2011, OPXBIO reached agreement with The Dow Chemical Company to jointly develop the industrial-scale process for BioAcrylic. OPXBIO has demonstrated lab scale production of its second product – fatty acid from syngas feedstock for chemical and fuel applications. A $6 million award from the US DOE ARPA-E agency supports this development. OPXBIO was founded in 2007 and currently employs 65 people.
