Nan, Inc. has been providing professional construction services and serving the needs of the local construction industry for nearly 20 years. From its humble beginnings as an 8(a) small business contractor in 1990, the company was able to achieve many goals while under the guidance of the program. Such success allowed the company to become a corporation in 1995, as well as graduate from the 8(a) program with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s recognition for being the “Prime Contractor of the Year, Hawaii and Region IX”, and presented with the “Administrator’s Award for Excellence”. At the beginning of 2001, Nan, Inc.’s business status changed from small to large business, with an annual revenue averaging approximately $100-$120 million, and a bonding capacity of over $500 million. The company currently employs a diverse range of personnel, including engineers and a technical staff, estimators, quality control managers, safety officers, schedulers, field supervisors, skilled tradesmen, and accounting and administrative support members. Moreover, its success can be seen by its accomplishments, particularly being ranked in the Building Industry magazine among “Hawaii’s Top 25 Contractors” since 1999. Overall, since 1996 the company has performed approximately 1,900 projects, nearly totaling about $700 million.
