Founded in 1916 and now celebrating our 100th Anniversary, Mendes & Mount LLP is one of the largest firms in the country devoted exclusively to the practice of insurance law. A maritime-oriented practice at its inception, a non-maritime practice soon blossomed within, as the fields of our clients' commercial activity broadened. Indeed, our role in such maritime settlements connected to vessels known as the Brittania, the Speedwell, the Powhattan, and the Lusitania soon expanded to such notable non-marine events as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse (1940), the Great Salad Oil Swindle (1963) the Staten Island Tank Explosion (1973) and infamous J. David Domenelli ponzi scheme (1984). With client demand, the Firm’s litigation and claims servicing capabilities were thereafter expanded to meet the complex challenges posed by environmental and toxic tort liabilities. And into a new century, those capabilities have been enhanced even further, with legal talent and technology, to thoroughly address the compounded risks presented to us by our clients in the fields of professional liability and healthcare, aerospace and energy and now, cyber data privacy and security. In short, our commitment to our clients' ever-growing needs has been the hallmark of our practice.
