The Earle A. Chiles Research Institute, a division of Providence Cancer Institute, is a world-class research facility locate in Portland, Oregon. Our main area of investigation is cancer immunotherapy, a specialized field of study focused on harnessing the innate power of the immune system to cure cancer. Founded in 1993 by our Chief Medical Officer Walter Urba, M.D., Ph.D., and a team of internationally recognized scientists, today we garner $10 million annually in federal, private and other sponsored grant funding and have a research staff of more than 150 team members.
