Bluebird Network

Bluebird Network, headquartered in Columbia, MO, has provided internet and fiber transport services to Carriers and Enterprises in Missouri, Illinois and the surrounding states since 1999. Bluebird Network began as a collection of Missouri and Illinois telephone companies, which connect to each other and to the internet, as well as other carriers beyond their service areas. These companies came together through the integration of Missouri Network Alliance, Illinois Network Alliance and Bluebird Media to provide transport services, internet access, and high speed bandwidth opportunities to rural and urban communities. In 2014, an underground data center was acquired and created the Bluebird Underground Data Center, adding a data center facility to the Bluebird suite of services. In 2019, Bluebird Network was acquired by Macquarie Infrastructure Partners (“Macquarie”), a fund managed by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, one of the world’s leading alternative asset managers. Through this acquisition, Bluebird increased its fiber footprint even further, providing greater access to existing customers and reaching out to new service areas, including extending our network within Illinois, and into Iowa and Indiana. Today, our network has over 9,300 fiber route miles of high-speed broadband and fiber-optic connections to over 50,000 on-net and near-net buildings. By leveraging our network, resources, and innovative employees, we develop solutions that deliver broadband opportunities across the Midwest. We have over 135 Points of Presence (POP) including the major cities of Chicago, Springfield, St, Louis, Kansas City, Columbia, Tulsa, Peoria, Rockford, Bloomington, Normal and the Quad Cities.
