AnchorCert Group, situated in the Birmingham Assay Office, is comprised of five distinct divisions that each work towards protecting both the trade and the consumer, with integrity, independence and innovation. Our origin lies in the formation of the Birmingham Assay Office in 1773 which was set up to provide assaying (testing) and hallmarking of precious metal items (gold, silver, platinum and palladium) as required by the Hallmarking Act. As the needs of the industry changed, Birmingham Assay Office diversified its services to work towards upholding the integrity of the trade, creating five different divisions that provide Diamond, Gemstone & Pearl Certification, Jewellery, Watch and Silverware Valuations, non-precious metal testing, product safety and quality assurance testing as well as educational training and consultancy.
