Baselayer® began in 2008 as operators of a hyper-scale data center company with a global footprint. Our modules were designed to solve the problems typical of colocation data centers such as; the need for speculative capital deployment, lengthy and costly construction cycles, dramatic differences in customer requirements, and the operational inefficiencies caused by varying infrastructure at each site. Inspired by these challenges, we designed and manufactured our own modular “data center in a box,” which we ultimately offered as a product to customers under the Baselayer® brand name.To date, Baselayer® has become the clear industry leader in the modular data center industry with ~200 megawatts and 400+ modules deployed across three continents. Our modules are indoors, outdoors, at the base of cell towers, in the middle of the desert and in snow country. Quite simply, Baselayer® modular technology is the fastest and most efficient way to deploy critical infrastructure.Baselayer® modules are not shipping containers. They are highly engineered, purpose-built, welded steel enclosures with high security, that can be placed anywhere, in any environment, with the utmost confidence, for ~$5MM per megawatt in many cases. Additionally, and optionally, Baselayer® provides RunSmart™ software for monitoring and control of the modules. It is robust and extremely flexible in nature. Designed with operation in mind, on premises or cloud hosted, one can have module and surrounding critical facility equipment data for all site(s) in a single pane. RunSmart™ comes out of the box with real time alarming, notification, single or multi-point data charts, trending, live graphic visualization and enhanced metrics capabilities.Baselayer® built modules for our own use and operated them around the globe before we ever sold one to the market.
