Yanbu Industrial College

Yanbu Industrial College (YIC) in Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah is a 25-minute drive from the Prince Abdul Mohsin Bin Abdul Aziz Airport, the city’s international airport. The College is located about 350KM north of Jeddah on the coast of the Red Sea, one of the main waterways that connects Saudi Arabia, the world’s leading oil exporter, to Europe and Africa. To take advantage of Yanbu’s strategic geographical location and transform it into a modern industrial city, the Kingdom formed the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu in 1975. Soon the city became the nation’s western terminus of pipelines to transport natural gas and crude oil to the world market. Realizing the increasing need to develop Saudi human resources with high technical education to manage this fast growing economy, the Royal Commission established the Yanbu Industrial College in 1989. Currently, Yanbu is host to around 20 heavy hydro-carbon, petrochemical and mineral industries. The Saudi workforce educated at YIC has helped a great deal in taking the initial investments from industrial developers in the city to a current all time high of more than 14 billion dollars. In a matter of a couple of decades, the College has become one of the major sources of manpower for the extensive local economy, propelling Yanbu’s industrial sector to becoming a major contributor to the nation’s economy. YIC maintains strong relationships with local industry and the professions. At the top of our organization chart is the Industry Advisory Council, comprised of economic powerhouses representing the broad spectrum of industries integral to Yanbu Industrial City. The Council helps in evaluating and developing our academic programs, bringing our curricula in line with the needs of the industry. As a result, there is a great demand for our graduates in the market and the College maintains a consistently high student placement rate.
