Thirlestane Castle

A magnificent 16th century castle set in a quiet meadow landscape, you will find us distinctly different. Family home of the Duke of Lauderdale, Thirlestane Castle is one of the oldest and finest castles in Scotland. It still remains a family home to the Maitland family today. Thirlestane is open for public and private tours throughout the year, and is also an impressive setting for all kinds of large-scale outdoor events, corporate events, private dining experiences and weddings. Thirlestane has a 5-star accommodation offering in the South Wing of the castle, consisting of eight bedrooms split over five apartments. The castle apartments can either be taken individually or all together by a group of up to sixteen people. We can help arrange a variety of experiences such as horse riding, spa treatments and other activities in the grounds. A fully catered and exclusive use option is also available.
