The Kohala Center

The Kohala Center is an independent, not-for-profit, community-based center for research and education about and for our natural environment. By consciously operating at the intersection of culture, science, and community, The Kohala Center will work collaboratively to sustain the Island of Hawai'i, as well as develop knowledge that will be of value to the world. Our Mission: To respectfully engage the Island of Hawai'i as a living laboratory for humanity. We value a state of pono in which people will realize their potential, contributing their best to one another, to the community as a whole, and to the ‘aina itself, in exchange for a meaningful and happy life.
