Textile Center’s mission is to honor textile traditions, promote excellence and innovation, and inspire widespread participation in fiber art. Before our founding in 1994, guilds had operated in isolation, with limited opportunities to exhibit and sell art, work with specialized equipment, or pursue training. Textile Center’s facility, located in Minneapolis’ Prospect Park neighborhood, opened in 2001 and features four fiber art galleries, an artisan shop, an auditorium that accommodates large events for up to 300 people, classrooms, a circulating textile library, a professional-grade dye lab, and office space. Anchor tenants are the Weavers Guild of Minnesota and over 30 member organizations that rent space for meetings and events throughout the year.
