Steel Plant Specialities is a 23 year old, ISO certified Company that manufactures cost saving, innovative products for Heat Treatment, Hot Forging, Steel Rolling, Nitriding and Die-Casting industries. The innovation team at Steel Plant Specialities includes seasoned metallurgical engineers from the well acclaimed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai. Products manufactured are: 1. Hot forging lubricants to increase hot forging die life. Graphiteless & water soluble lubricants to avoid pollution. 2. Refractory coating compound to save furnace oil consumption during furnace operation - hot forging, hot rolling and heat treatment furnaces. 3. Anti scale compound to increase yield during hot rolling, hot forging & heat treatment. Preventing rejections due to scaling during heat treatment and hot forging. 4. Tapping lubricants to improving tapping performance and increase tapping tool life. 5. Selective gas nitriding compound to prevent hardening of required areas of component during nitriding. 6. Metal working coolant with long sump life for use in CNC/VMC operations. Noteworthy success stories: 1. 80% increase in forging die life achieved through indigineously manufactured forging lubricant at Customer's Plant. 2. Zero pollution achieved due to switchover from oil based lubricant to SPS make water soluble graphiteless lubricant. 3. Saving of furnace oil worth $ 34,000 achieved with investment of $ 1,555 towards special refractory coating for use in furnace operations. 4. Rejection of heat treated components reduced from 24% to 3% at a leading forge shop. Product used was SPS make Anti scale compound. 5. Container load of forged components at a Ltd. Company were salvaged during re-heating by use of anti-scale compound. Oxidation / Scaling would have ruined dimensional tolerance if product was not used. 6. Selective gas nitriding compound enabled complete masking from nitriding on areas of component where nitriding was to be avoided.
