Starling’s mission is to provide a meaningful solution to mental health issues by using a common sense and evidence-based approach to online training and education, making it simpler for users to enhance their stress resiliency and mental fitness. One in five people in North America experience some form of mental health problem. Employers lose billions of dollars every year in lost productivity from absenteeism, reduced work output (presenteeism), and increased disability claims. By 2020, the World Health Organization projects that depression will be the second leading cause of disability next to heart disease. Starling Peak Performance is an online, self-directed program that makes improving mental health in the workplace affordable and effective for organizations. By using assessments, interactive videos, and short feedback questionnaires, the program gives employees and members the tools to break unproductive patterns. Training is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and uses a common-sense approach and straightforward language to engage users. Participants will see an improvement in symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression, and better functioning at home and at work. Employers will see an improvement in productivity and job performance. The program was developed by a registered psychologist, Dr. Andrew Miki.
