Sports Backers

Sports Backers, is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire all corners of our community to live actively. Over the past 31 years, Sports Backers has developed programs and events that are designed to inspire people from all corners of our community to live actively. We achieve this work by focusing on a network of collaborative partnerships with other organizations, businesses, local governments and faith based institutions. In order to have transformational change, we realize we can’t do it all alone, but rather we work to build a movement of change in our community to make active living the easy choice. Sports Backers owns, produces, and partners to produce 15 annual events that include some of the largest and most successful of their kind in the country. Our events include: Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K presented by Kroger Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon CarMax Richmond Half Marathon VCU Health Richmond 8k Dominion Energy Riverrock Anthem Corporate Run Virginia Credit Union River City Half Marathon Cougar 7v7 Field Hockey Tournament Ashland Half Marathon & 5k Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival CarMax Tacky Light Run Uncorked Half & 5k Run Richmond 16.19 Sports Backers operates programs to further cultivate active living across the Metro Richmond region, including Bike Walk RVA, Fitness Warriors, and Kids Run RVA programs.
