The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is an international professional organization dedicated to promoting the scientific study of the phenomena that affect the maintenance, loss, and restoration of biological diversity. The Society's membership comprises a wide range of people interested in the conservation and study of biological diversity, including resource managers, educators, government and private conservation workers, and students, who make up nearly 5,000 members worldwide. SCB's mission is to advance the science and practice of conserving Earth's biological diversity. Members are represented globally and regionally through SCB Sections: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, Marine, and Oceania. SCB also publishes two distinguished peer reviewed journals, "Conservation Biology" and "Conservation Letters," published by independent editorial boards. Every two years, SCB hosts the International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB) and regional congresses in the interim years. These meetings provide the platform for conservation scientists to meet, exchange information, and collaborate on projects involving conservation, ecosystem protection and sustainability, for both nature and the human communities that depend on them. Last but not least, SCB boasts 12 topical Working Groups, including Religion and Conservation Biology, Social Science, Freshwater, and Conservation Marketing, as well as 42 local Chapters around the globe.
