Mission Statement The Vanguard's mission is to serve the Portland State community with timely, accurate, comprehensive and critical content while upholding high journalistic standards. In the process, we aim to enrich our staff with a quality, hands-on journalism education and a number of skills that are highly valued in today's job market. About The Vanguard, established in 1946, is published weekly as an independent student newspaper governed by the PSU Student Media Board.
