"Believing in the full potential of every individual..." PUENTE's mission is stated within its name: People United to Enrich the Neighborhood Through Education. "Puente" is also the Spanish word for "bridge." Since 1985, PUENTE has been a bridge to opportunity for over 90,000 individuals, building strong educational foundations to advance higher education goals, secure gainful employment, and achieve greater self-sufficiency. To date, PUENTE has served over 100,000 community members through our needs-responsive, intergenerational programs. PUENTE provides a welcoming space for children, youth, and adults to grow both academically and personally. Programs for children are designed to create an intellectually stimulating environment that motivates students to achieve an age-appropriate mastery of reading, writing, math, and computer skills, gain knowledge of science and history and participate in enriching arts programs.
