The Commissioners of the Land Office manages the lands and funds that form a trust established to help fund public education in the State of Oklahoma. The corpus of this trust is comprised of over 730,000 surface acres and 1.1 million mineral acres set aside by the Organic Act of 1890 and the Oklahoma Enabling Act of 1906. In addition to the agency’s land and mineral assets, the CLO has an over $2.7 billion portfolio invested for the ultimate benefit of education in Oklahoma. In FY 2020, the CLO distributed nearly $127 million in revenue for Oklahoma K-12 and designated higher education institutions.
The CLO is a state agency with a simple mission: Managing Assets to Support Education. CLO employees take this mission to heart and go above and beyond to ensure this purpose is met. Real estate management, minerals management, royalty compliance, legal, financial services, IT and records management are all groups that together ensure the success of the CLO.
