New Zealand King Salmon (NZKS) sustainably farms King salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) from five sea farms in the cool, deep waters of the South Island’s Marlborough Sounds. Remote and pristine, our King salmon are raised in arguably the cleanest rearing environments in the world, and we’re committed to keeping it that way. From the crystal clear waters flowing from Te Waikoropupū Springs near Takaka, to the majestic marine environment that is the Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand King Salmon are farmed in one of the most sustainable ways possible. We are firmly committed to the sustainability and viability of a renewable resource, with our success centered on maintaining the quality of the waters in which our salmon are farmed. To this end, NZKS is independently certified by the Global Aquaculture Alliance as conforming to their Best Aquaculture Practices standards. We also recently became a member of the Global Salmon Initiative, whose focus is on making significant progress on sustainability for farmed salmon. We are NZ’s largest integrated aquaculture company and largest farmer of Chinook (King) salmon globally.
