Map Of Life

Map of Life (MOL) is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 and led by Yale University and the University of Florida. MOL is unique in that it hosts a large, and growing global biodiversity database comprised of hundreds of millions of records and a variety of data types. The unique combination of expert species range maps, occurrence records, biological inventories, and more allows for robust scientific reporting used for research, decision making, policy, and education. MOL has partners around the world, developing spatial tools and products across geographic scales. Built for scalability and performance, it is a leader in spatial web applications, using Google App Engine, Google Earth Engine, and CARTO cloud platforms.
