Ladder Up Chicago

For over 20 years, Ladder Up has been committed to helping hardworking families and individuals access the financial resources and tools they need to move up the economic ladder. By linking clients with over 1,100 volunteers, many recruited from the Chicago area’s top companies and universities, Ladder Up empowers families and enriches communities with practical solutions. Whether it is helping clients get the tax refunds they deserve, secure the financial aid that makes higher education affordable, or gain the knowledge needed to make sound financial decisions, Ladder Up provides free financial services to enable clients to improve their quality of life. The organization was founded in 1994 with the idea of helping low-income Chicago residents secure valuable tax credits. With a modest corps of 90 volunteers, the Tax Assistance Program returned over $150,000 to 120 families at Holy Family School in Chicago in its first year. Since then, the organization has grown to include financial aid and financial literacy services, and to date, Ladder Up has served over 280,000 clients, helping them access $506 million in economic benefits.
