IBERDROLA Engineering & Construction was formed as a limited company at the end of 1994 as the result of the integrated merger of the engineering skills and resources belonging to IBERDROLA and the companies UITESA (Technological Specialists) and IBERSAIC (the Environment) and holdings in Gibbs and Hill Española (GHESA) and Empresarios Agrupados. This union gave rise to a team with high levels of training and extensive experience in all areas of engineering and consultancy work, covering the entire life cycle of a project from the basic design stages through to physical execution, including “turnkey” facilities. IBERDROLA Engineering & Construction was created to offer the technical skills developed for IBERDROLA’s projects in the general marketplace while at the same time continuing to provide services for its parent company. From the outset, IBERDROLA Engineering & Construction has been the centre of all the IBERDROLA Group’s engineering and construction work, and it has become the Group’s technological core and the subsidiary that develops all the necessary skills in this area. We are currently the fourth largest energy engineering company in the world in terms of turnover, and one of Spain’s principal engineering companies in the electricity sector. In 2011, the Company was active in more than 30 countries, developing projects relating to renewables, networks, nuclear power and electricity generation.
