Hacienda Don Pedro New York

Hacienda Don Pedro (HDP) is a start-up, family-owned farm, located in the Town of Shawangunk, New York. David and Mia Serano purchased and re-started the farm in the summer of 2020. Currently, HDP raises free-range poultry for eggs/protein on open pasture land and works with goats on grass maintenance and soil development. This summer (2021) HDP will be planting the first, of many, vegetable gardens and be beginning the processing of preparing next year’s garden expansion (aka picking rocks all summer long). At Hacienda Don Pedro, we practice all-natural processes that are in line with regenerative agriculture practices. We believe in no-till soil management and are actively working to build regenerative soil practices with the inclusion of multiple-live stock introductions, cover-crops, and compost programming. Eventually, we would like to rebuild the pond, and with the help of live fish, incorporate the pond ecosystem into the irrigation/fertigation system of the entire property. At Hacienda Don Pedro, we have an ethical and moral obligation to care for all of our animals with respect and dignity. Working with livestock isn’t just about protein consumption, they help us maintain our soil. Our animals have plenty of indoor/outdoor space to roam and spread out to do their part, so don’t be surprised if you’re greeted by a goat or a duck.
