The Lady Gowrie Child Centre Inc (Adelaide) was established in 1940 as a demonstration and model child and family centre and continues to lead the development of innovative and responsive services for the education and care sectors. Now known as Gowrie SA, we remain committed to our founding values; The rights, well-being and learning of all children, families and educators are at the heart of our vision for early childhood. Gowrie SA has integrated early childhood programs, which support children’s development and learning located in Thebarton and Underdale. With outdoor environments which allow children space and opportunity to learn and grow in a natural garden setting. Gowrie SA has a range of professional learning and support options for education and care services in SA including long day care, family day care, outside school hours care, kindergarten/preschool, in-home care and occasional care. Also supporting professionals working in health, well being and community services. Professional learning and support can be accessed at Gowrie SA or can visit a service, providing professional learning for individuals, small groups or whole staff teams. Gowrie SA was selected as the Inclusion Agency for South Australia from 1 July 2016. The Inclusion Support Programme is funded by the Australian Government to build the capacity of eligible services to include children with special rights within mainstream services. The Programme supports inclusion for children with diverse needs and backgrounds, as well as access to a Specialist Equipment Library. Our programs are developed through incorporating the latest research and our own internal inquiry-based practice. This means that our services are dependable having solid foundations in both theory and practice.
