GTEL

GTEL is associated with the Department of Teleinformatics Engineering (DETI), located at UFC’s Campus do Pici. The group was created in June 2000 with a mission of developing wireless communications technology through academic research performed by DETI’s Professors, undergraduate, Master and Doctor of Science students and external consultants. “GTEL was built to answer an increasing demand for research and development services in the brazilian telecommunications sector, specifically in the area of wireless communications,” says Professor Rodrigo Cavalcanti, GTEL’s coordinator. All work developed by the group is guided by the optimization of mobile telephony through mathematical modeling in order to provide users with lower costs and increased service security and reliability, and also integrating today’s technologies, promoting intercommunication among systems. The researchers study and reproduce all everyday difficulties, such as the intense radio signal traffic of the cities and the limitation of today’s equipments. Thereafter, new solutions are proposed.
