The Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT) based in Ostfildern near Stuttgart/Germany was founded in February 1931 and is a pan-European operating company for the automotive industry. Its founders and shareholders are the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA: Verband der Automobilindustrie), the Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK: Verband der Internationalen Kraftfahrzeughersteller) and the German Federation for Motor Trades and Repairs (ZDK: Zentralverband Deutsches Kraftfahrzeuggewerbe). The core business of DAT is collecting and processing data from OEMs as well as developing and selling a management tool called SilverDAT II, which is a computer information system for repair estimate and used vehicle valuation. Furthermore DAT offers residual value forecasts and analyzes values for special cars like electric vehicles. As a basis for their products DAT conducts intensive market research in the automotive sector. It also offers numerous services via the Internet for customers and businesses in the automotive industry.
