CRE (Commission for Energy Regulation) is an independent administrative authority responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of electricity and gas markets in France. The CRE was established in 2000, on the occasion of the opening to competition in energy markets. The CRE is a key player, independent regulator of the energy sector. The mission of the CRE is "to contribute, to the benefit of final consumers, to the proper functioning of electricity and natural gas markets ."
