After over 19 years of being in the automotive industry I've noticed one thing that has remained a constant. What is it? Bad credit! Unfortunately, sometimes bad things happen to good people and having average or below credit can have a lasting negative impression and repercussion to a person. I myself learned that quickly at a young age when I kept getting no's, turn downs, and declines from lenders. Just like most people, I was never taught about credit and didn't understand the importance of having good credit until I actually needed credit and it was too late. Why wasn't this stuff taught in high school or college I thought? Why did I have to learn about credit the hard way? Eighty percent of life's decisions are affected by credit: car loans, home loans, credit card approvals, insurance premium rates, rental agreements, employment, etc. Understanding credit is not only important, but critical to your financial stability and well-being.
