Behnam Daheshpour Charity Organization

The charity organization, which is known as Behnam Daheshpour's Charity Organization, is aimed to help cancerous needy patients. In fact, Behnam was the name of a young countryman who had started to have cancer in the beginning of the 17th spring of his life. For 3 years he combated with this illness. But unfortunately, in spite of all the different treatments, in and out of the country, he died at the age of 21. During his treatment period in Shohada-ye Tajrish Hospital, Behnam was strongly influenced by the horrible condition of patients in the semi-constructed Department of Oncology. Despite his severe illness, he intended to complete the semi-finished works of the department with a strong spirit and perseverance. So he organized the first charity market in 1995 and by gathering people's aid through participation in benevolent activities and art seminars and presenting them to Shohada Hospital's cancerous patients, he founded a genuine movement. As he sold decorated candles to benefit cancer patients, his own life’s candle died out in his home; yet he left a light in the hearts of his family and friends. A group of his relatives and friends gathered together in order to continue Behnam’s movement. And today, Behnam Daheshpour's Charity Organization is proud to be the assistance center of cancer victims. Even though its construction operations had not yet been completed, Shohada-ye Tajrish Hospital Department of Cancer began its work in 1991 with the intention of reforming patient treatment. Its waiting hall, mobilization of which had started regarding Behnam's efforts, was opened in the fall of 1995, when he was no longer among us. Finally in March 1997 with public assistance, other departments prepared to receive patients.
