AFRICELL Started operating in 2000. Currently operates in 4 countries : The Gambia, Sierra Leone Democratic Republic of the Congo Uganda. AFRICELL Gambia , Established in 2001,as Africell’s first operation Currently operates 2G, 3G & 4G networks on Prepaid and Postpaid plans. Market leader since 2006, due to an aggressive marketing and sales strategy, surpassing other operators by 5 fold, Currently has 1.45 million subscribers, where the Gambian population is 1.85 million AFRICELL Sierra Leone Started 2G, 3G & 4G operations in 2005,In 2009 acquired Tigo First operator to implement 3G and 4G networks, Acquired Comium’s sites in 2016. Despite being the last Operator to enter the market, Africell’s aggressive expansion based on an aggressive sales, marketing and network roll-out strategy, where every new site is accompanied with a dedicated event, made it the market LEADER. Africell Sierra Leone implements a very comprehensive social agenda, which allowed it to become an integral part of Sierra Leone’s society AFRICELL DRC Started with 2G operations in the DRC in December of 2012, Interconnection and 3G were launched in March of 2015 then 4G was launched in 2019. In line with Africell's aggressive strategy, in only 3 years Africell was able to achieve exceptional results by being a market leader in areas of operations AFRICELL Uganda acquired Orange in November of 2014, Acquired 700,000 subscribers, with a target to acquire 30% market share with 8m active subscribers in the coming 5 years, Currently ranked 3rd among the 7 operators in Uganda ,First to introduce LTE technology, Only operator to expand the 4G network outside of Kampala, to major upcountry cities, 4,185 cells covering all regions in Uganda, on more than 600 sites .
