ACT Government

The ACT Government is responsible for providing accessible and responsive services for the Canberra community and consists of seven Directorates. Each Directorate delivers different services to the Canberra community as part of one ACT Government. 1. Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development 2. Community Services 3. Education 4. Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development 5. Health 6. Justice and Community Safety 7. Transport Canberra and City Services This account is managed by the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate. The first sitting of the ACT Legislative Assembly was 11 May 1989 following the first election on 4 March 1989. The seventh and current Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory is Andrew Barr. The current head of the ACT Public Service is Kathy Leigh.
