Program Mentor @ INCUBATE is an award-winning startup accelerator and entrepreneur program founded by the University of Sydney Union and expanding throughout Australia (www.incubate.org.au).
As a Program Mentor I work with the individual startup teams on a weekly basis, consulting on a number of aspects of early stage businesses including: incorporation, company structuring, MVPs, product discovery and validation, marketing and most importantly, JFDI. From November 2013 to Present (2 years 1 month) Managing Director @ Drivelist (www.drivelist.com.au) provided consumers and dealers with a better car buying experience. While most car research is now done online, consumers still have the inconvenience of spending the better part of their weekend test driving potential vehicles. Drivelist offered the ultimate convenience, test drives delivered to a car buyer's home or workplace.
Drivelist failed to achieve significant traction. This was caused by the low frequency of vehicle purchasing leading to high CACs. CACs were further magnified by having to both educate and acquire the customer, within a market where insurers, financiers, dealers and manufacturers are all competing for consumer awareness. On the other side new car margins were not enough to balance this equation, depriving the business of a consistent growth engine. The result has since been seen to be consistent with results from American counterparts, most recently Tred. From February 2013 to July 2014 (1 year 6 months) Co-Founder @ Ollio is an online retail startup with a multi-sided platform business model. It's objective is to be a professional version of Etsy for independent retailers who want to expand their audience globally.
During my time on Ollio I lead the business development and marketing, achieving the acquisition of 180,000 fans on our pre-launch Facebook page. Ollio's selection to participate in the Advance Innovation Australia program was also an excellent experience through our exposure to strong mentors and VC connections in San Francisco. From November 2011 to August 2012 (10 months) Sydney Area, AustraliaAccount Director @ Lead digital Account Director for Visa, EA Games, RaboDirect and Reserve Bank of Australia. From November 2010 to November 2011 (1 year 1 month) Co-Founder @ Housefinder was an augmented reality mobile application that combined a smartphone's camera view of a property in real-time with historic sales and neighborhood data.
Housefinder was an Australian first and second in market globally. The application was a commercial success with St. George bank funding development of the application through advertising. From June 2009 to October 2010 (1 year 5 months) Group Sales Manager @ As a GSM at Fairfax Digital, I was responsible for group revenues from emitch, Starcom, Neo@Ogilvy, Carat and TMS. This made up approximately 1/3rd of the advertising revenues from NSW for the business.
During this time I managed a team of 6 AMs and AEs and achieved budget every quarter amid a challenging economic climate. From May 2008 to May 2009 (1 year 1 month) Sydney Area, AustraliaAccount Manager @ Working in media sales for Fairfax Digital, I managed a number of key agency relationships. I achieved recognition during this period for building the AMEX account into the business' largest financial client and 2nd biggest account overall.
