From June 1995 to April 2013 (17 years 11 months) Board Member (Past Chair) @ Advise the Board of Commissioners on matters of public concern and to help formulate and recommend priorities for the capital improvement and further expansion of the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport. From 2004 to June 2012 (8 years) FAC Technology Subcommittee @ Worked with Wendy’s IT and Operations departments to evaluate software and hardware components and to select POS software / hardware with specific feature and functionality requirements which would satisfy the needs of the entire Wendy’s System. I also took a leadership role in the management of relationships with several of the vendors throughout this process.
I have been involved in POS, BOS, standards and design, digital signage, simple order confirmation, mobile device utilization, hardware vendor selection, price negotiation, digital camera integration, smart kitchen display systems, conversational ordering, credit and gift card integration, and various other margin improvement projects during this time.
Some of the results with the POS project alone were:
• Payroll fraud: 1 – 5% of labor costs is from buddy punching; resolved by biometric readers for clocking in/out.
• Improved food costs: transaction level details and condiment use flowing to food management system ensure improvements.
• Reduce training from days to hours, saving 15 hours per new cashier per year; all from easy to use conversational ordering.
• Reduced theft and skimming from the till and customers; via integrated credit cards.
• No lost sales from offline credit cards; modern POSs have store-and-forward capabilities for credit so customers aren’t turned away, or operators give away food.
• Lower outside order confirmation display (OCD) costs; the simple OCD is more than $1,000 less than a traditional OCD and uptime is dramatically improved.
• Increased order accuracy reduces waste; the conversational ordering model and inside OCD ensures orders are rung up correctly.
• Improved speed of service ensures more customers can get through the drive thru line; with touch screen and conversational ordering orders are entered quickly and voids are non-existent.
