Senior RF & Microwave Engineer II @ Raytheon From November 2017 to January 2019 (1 year 3 months) Tucson, ArizonaRF Design Engineer @ Qorvo, Inc. Design of packaged power amplifier discrete's for cellular telecom industry using Qorvo's GaN transistor die. Design includes Linear and Non-Linear model simulations to predict performance, producing assembly drawing of packaged discrete's for manufacturing using CAD software, testing of the packaged amplifier including small signal parameters and large signal Load-Pull, reviewing data and correlation between measured and simulated data. Designed evaluation boards (EVB's) by using ADS layout to verify design performance. Design cycle includes PDR, CDR and DDR. Design tools include Keysight ADS, MoMentum, DraftSight CAD, AWR and HFSS. From November 2014 to November 2017 (3 years 1 month) Richardson, TXRF/Microwave Engineer III @ Harris Corporation GCS • Design of RF & Microwave components, sub-circuits and systems including receiver front-end, RF converters, RF transmit chain, Power Amplifiers, transmit gain control circuitry, impedance matching networks, distributed filter design, and PCB RF layout• Utilized ANSYS HFSS to generate and model custom RF launches and distributed matching circuits for space applications, analyzed complex packaging for incorporation into custom modules• Designed and analyzed UHF, L and S-band front-end receiver for proprietary space application, presented design at PDR and CDR in presence of external customers• Lead designer of a 30Wpk GaN Doherty PA for Internal Research & Development: defined requirements/specifications, produced detailed load-pull simulations using Cree’s GaN HEMT model in Advanced Design System (ADS), designed Wilkinson divider and Doherty combiner using ADS MoMentum, lead design reviews with internal customers, generated PCB layout and build, tested and passed all specifications, met cost and schedule targets• Optimized, analyzed and test of legacy vehicular VHF/UHF 50W PA to introduce new waveform (MUOS-WCDMA), defined and conducted device verification testing for tactical VHF/UHF radios and PA’s. Lead a team of RF engineers to complete the LRIP (Low Rate Initial Production) RF Modules to Production status• Re-designed legacy Cartesian Feedback Linearizer for UHF narrowband P25 100W Power Amplifier• Perform design reviews and develop documentation such as engineering design specifications and test procedures• Leadership responsibilities include being Group Leader for 7 RF Engineers, encouraging their career growth, providing guidance and management of year-end appraisals, additional department-level leadership initiatives include organizing training of 60+ engineers and contributing to the strategic growth plan• Took courses in GaN Power Amplifier design, Maury Load Pull, Agilent courses in ADS and Momentum modeling and HFSS From January 2003 to October 2014 (11 years 10 months) Palm Bay, FLSr Electrical Engineer @ General Dynamics Scottsdale, Arizona
