Over time it has evolved into a very dynamic and forward thinking organization whose focus extends beyond employee benifits and wage negotiations. CIR is invested in the Professional Development of young physicians in training and as such, has provided a variety of opportunities and programing centered around Patient Advocacy, Resident Community, Academic Learning, and Community Service.
My role as a NY Regional VP is to serve as a member of the Board of Directors and represent the interest of the Resident Members located in NY in both maintaining and improving existing benefits, as well as, helping to guide the future direction of the orgainazation.
I serve as the Secretary Treasurer of the Patient Care Trust Fund, an entitiy which provides grants to members requesting funding for hospital equipment, educational material and healthcare quality improvement research. I also serve as a longstanding member of the Healthy Bronx Initiative Avisory Roundtable and multiple conference and event planning committees. From May 2011 to Present (4 years 8 months) Emergency Physician @ From July 2014 to July 2015 (1 year 1 month) Health Policy and Leadership Fellow @ In this exciting and evolving world of health system change, physicians must be knowledgeable of the health care system and have the unique skills to lead these changes both locally and nationally. The University of Maryland Fellowship in Health Policy and Leadership is designed to give early career emergency physicians a unique, tailored experience in health care policy, to be ready to effectively lead policy development, implementation and advocacy at the local, state or national level. Through formal didactic training, a full time policy experience, leadership development, as well as enormous opportunities to apply policy and advocacy skills both domestically and internationally, the fellowship provides a springboard for a successful career as a physician leader. From July 2014 to July 2015 (1 year 1 month) Legislative Fellow @ From January 2015 to April 2015 (4 months) Adjunct Clinical Instructor @ At the request of the Course Director, I deliver basic science lectures PA and MD students on a variety of Clinical Medicine topics. I was tasked with greeting visitors, giving general tours, and being available to all patrons to answer any and all questions about the anatomy and physiology of the human body and the patented preservation process use to preserve the specimens.
