📖 Summary
Senior Software Engineer @ Laurel Road Computer Specialist @ RIT I was a student helper for the computer helpdesk in NTID. I would help solve ticketed problems or assign a senior tech if the problem required special attention. From October 2010 to December 2011 (1 year 3 months) Software Engineer @ Tealium Migrating our code base from Marrionette/Backbone to React/Mobx. Adding features and fixes to our Java 8 backend. Greater San Diego AreaSoftware Engineer @ Windstream Communications Worked through software development life cycle and across multiple languages to produce a company web app.My team and I at Windstream utilized the SCRUM methodology to fulfill business requirements and correct bug reports. Our project design incorporated micro-services and expert system ideologies. The approach kept our software compartmentalized with a rule flow we could follow when debugging was needed. The most difficult challenge while working at Windstream was learning the functions of the different web services and how to communicate with them. I found the best way to understand how everything interacted was to get my hands dirty and pick up tasks that involved communicating with one of the services. Building upon that and continuing to progress sent me from editing created functions to crafting my own on both sides. Creating service requests wasn't all; tasks could, and often did, bounce between creating SQL queries, writing design documents, updating OSB endpoints, and regular code maintenance. We used Spring MVC, Apache Tomcat, Groovy and Maven to help organize our project. From August 2014 to May 2015 (10 months) Rochester, New York AreaSoftware Engineer Co-Op @ Alstom Transport I worked on several independent projects as well as helped the software team update and test our current project.I used Python to create a script to check the up time for an electronics board to ensure it was working correctly. This led to finding some time errors within the board that were not apparent while it was in use.In C++, I created a program to automate user input for train rails. My program helped increase the efficiency of our team.My overarching goal at Alstom was updating our project from using Motif to a new graphical library,Qt. The updated code had to interact correctly with the old code. I used Inter-Process Communication to pass along and receive information.
