Innovation is one of the core priorities of Bpifrance, ranging from support of R &D to the strengthening of innovative companies capital structure, including funding of breakthrough innovation. The innovation Division of Bpifrance (250 peoples) is supporting innovation and investing in promising sectors and industries for the future like information technologies, environment and health. For this, the innovation Division of Bpifrance has two means at its disposal: · Funding of innovative projects carried out by start-ups and SMEs through reimbursable loans, zero interest rate loans or grants. Furthermore through the support of collaborative projects aiming at technological developments or acquisition of new technologies. About 3000 projects or companies benefit from a financial support by Bpifrance in a global amount of 1 Billion € each year. · Direct investment to strengthen the equity and quasi-equity capital of innovative companies in order to boost their development on a national and international level. To this end, the innovation Division has investment funds (mainly serie A/B) at its disposal managed by four specialized teams: digital technology with the Ambition Numérique fund (300M€) , health through the Innobio fund (180M€) , environment through the Ecotechnologies fund (150M€) and a new “large venture” fund (600M€) for investment of more than 10M€ in tech companies. Bpifrance invest directly more than 100M each year in tech companies.
