While in college I majored in Communication and spent every other minute of my time planning events for the various activates I was involved in. I also swam on the swim team, played club water polo, and participated in intermural sand volleyball. As a collegiate athlete I was forced to learn how to manage my time effectively and prioritize my tasks. I have learned how to be a team player, contributor, and leader. More importantly I have learned how to determine what role I need to play in a given situation to foster the best outcome for the group.
Outside of the pool I chaired our schools Relay For Life event, was President of my fraternity, and founded a dorm based governing body. As a leader of these various groups I learned how to organize, encourage, and teach team-building skills, while earning the respect of superiors and peers. I also learned how to adjust my leadership style depending on my client, peers, and fellow leaders in order to effectively drive results.
After college I found myself working for Nordstrom, and enjoying the discount even more. I quickly moved from the sales floor into management, from Pittsburgh to Chicago, and from a 45 million dollar store to a 100 million dollar store. At Nordstrom I learned how to connect my completive nature from swimming into results on the sales floor. I learned how to manage an 86 year old employee as well as the importance of customer service and making every customer happy with every transaction.
