This includes: fan facing apps, features, and sites; creator facing CMS, analytics, & finance tools; backend tools to help support & optimize all of Maker's business units, and allow us to do things at a scale that few companies can. From October 2013 to November 2014 (1 year 2 months) Co-Founder + Product Lead @ Blayze is a Santa Monica based startup focused on helping YouTube creators engage and grow their audience. Blayze offers a range of solutions from front facing apps, interaction products to engage fans with creators, off-YouTube monetization solutions, along with an advanced analytics dashboard to monitor results in real time. I managed the day to day product operations as well as undertake the role of creative director. I am responsible for decisions regarding brand voice, marketing approach, and visual design. This role entails managing the relationship between all our solutions, designing the experience (wireframes, flow diagrams, user stories), and building funnels to help assess how successful our measures are and which areas need to be improved. We often do quick iterations (an MVP) to test both business viability and approach of an idea before moving to more advanced prototypes. These MVP trials often are as short as a couple days to a week. If a project passes viability tests and meets our pre-established goals, we will green light the v1 build. This is where myself and our CTO will outline a roadmap timeline and break down product features into groups which we will prioritize. It is my role to prep all UX and UI assets for the engineering team, and to coordinate all copy and imagery with the marketing team. I directly manage the BD, marketing, and account management teams day-to-day with morning stand-ups and weekly roundups every Friday. We'll often review conversion funnels and sales funnels to assess progress and talk through and adjustments that need to be made. Several times a week we will have a meeting with the executive team to assess progress as it relates to our product roadmap and growth strategy. From October 2011 to October 2013 (2 years 1 month) Independent @ I have consulted several startups and companies to date. Mostly for UI/UX design, Product consulting, qualitative user research, designing logos and brand identities, or a more generalize consultation for product and business strategy. Clients have range from startups to large corporations. Most of my work has been for organizations looking to add a commercial product to their brand for the first time, or established companies looking to break their current product development patterns to build more innovative ones. Industries range from online video, various social networks, food & restaurant industry, healthcare, consumer electronics, commercial medical products, solar tech, cosmetics, high-end water bottles, and even products purely for the purpose of establishing a brand & what they stand for. From 2009 to 2013 (4 years) DesignStorm - Designer @ Generated product and business concepts for companies through Art Center College of Design facilitated creativity consultations. These consisted of rapid idea generation, concept visualization, competitor and market research, business model validation, and branding exploration. These sessions were normally used to establish a solid direction for a company's R&D team. Collaboration between Designer and stakeholders from the given companies were essential. Concepts generated were further explored and developed by the company's internal R&D teams. From October 2008 to April 2011 (2 years 7 months) Design Research & Strategy @ Kelton is a market research firm focused on PR, Qualitative research, Quantitative research, and Innovation. While at Kelton I was the only Design Strategist on staff and worked on any project that required a design approach to research. The list of clients I worked with included Target, Pfizer, Best Buy, Dominos Pizza, Jaegermeister, Flemings Steakhouse. I worked on several retail experience redesigns, marketing communication design, longterm business strategies. I traveled 60% of the time, conducting research and tests in the field. I helped moderate ethnographic interviews, observational research in the field, walk-up interviews, co-creation exercises. After the research portion I often mapped out responses, building matrices to synthesize results, or built user journeys to provide deeper understanding to the decision making process a customer, user, or patient goes through. I often also took our findings and made concept designs, illustrating what a possible solution would be based on the feedback. All findings were later translated into recommendations and priority, effectiveness, feasibility, and perceived cost. From August 2010 to January 2011 (6 months) Network Administrator & IT @ I was network administrator that oversaw five servers, one fileserver, one domain manager, and one direct federal line. I served as the in-house IT professional for a financial institute with 28 employees. I also tested and helped debug the alpha release of a 'Check 21' software being developed by Millennial Vision, Inc. This software was designed post-9/11 to digitally scan checks and securely transfer them to the Fed. This was an exclusive program, first of its kind, that no other credit union had access to.
