In addition to real-time processors I develop utilities and applications to support development work and troubleshooting(data recorders, error logging & reporting, data playback utilities).I mainly develop in C++ but also do a fair amount of Perl & shell scripting as well as some work in Java. I enjoy learning about new frameworks and integrating them to complete a new project.Some of the projects that I and my team work on include: * Data processors consuming real time market data from financial exchanges all over the world(including NYSE, NASDAQ, CME, Toronto, South America, Australia, and more) * A diverse set of standard and non-standard data transmission formats(FIX, ITCH, STAMP, MarketLink, fixed byte order) * Research and development into ensuring data packets are not lost over the network and timely re-transmission where possible * Write infrastructure code to handle message format changeovers, message region routing, and providing libraries of common processing functions/utilities * Fault tolerant processes and error handling/recovery * Design and development of streamlining the company's entire market data system * Recording, archiving and playback applications for this data * A web based front end to view the health and current state of our processors * Error logging and analytics for engineers and product developers
